Visas / Student Visa
Student Visa · degrees, Master's and language courses
Accepted to study in Spain? Congratulations. Now the less fun part.
Since the 2024 rule changes, a Master's student and a language-course student follow very different rules: where you apply, whether you can work, whether family can join. We work out which track you're on and build the file for it.
Government and consular fees are not included in your service fee — those are paid directly by you to the relevant authority.
Who it's for
Is this your visa?
A good fit if
- You're accepted onto a course at a recognised Spanish institution
- You can show about €620 a month in funds
- The course lasts more than 90 days
Look elsewhere if
- You want time in Spain to count toward residence or citizenship (student time doesn't)
- You plan to work full-time
Not sure? Your case manager confirms the route before you pay anything.
Everything in your fee
Most visa services stop at approval. We don't.

Before you apply
- Your track confirmed: higher education or language course

Honest note: biometrics and TIE fingerprints are in person. We tell you exactly what to bring, so you only go once.
Main requirements
What you'll need to show, and when to look elsewhere.
Main requirements
- Admission to a recognised Spanish institution
- About €620 a month (100% IPREM), about €7,440 a year; less with prepaid accommodation. About €480 a month more for each family member who joins you
- Passport, proof of admission and academic qualifications, apostilled and translated where needed
- Language courses: aged 18 or over and applying at the consulate in your country of residence
- Higher education: the law generally lets you apply from inside Spain too, though our service prepares the consulate application
Probably not for you if…
We'll say so before you pay.
- You want the time to count toward citizenship or Spanish long-term residence
- You need to work more than 30 hours a week
- You're on a language course and want family to join on your permit
- You plan to switch to a work permit after a language course
Since the 2024 rules
Which study track are you on?
The 2024 reform (BOE-A-2024-24099) tightened the rules for language courses and other non-higher-education programmes. Degree and postgraduate students kept most of theirs.
Degree, Master's, PhD

Language course or other non-higher education

The permit
What it gives you
- Since the 2024 reform there are two tracks: higher education, and language or other courses
- Higher education: work up to 30 hours a week, bring your partner and children, and renew yearly
- Language courses: 1 year plus one renewal, apply only at the consulate, no switch to a work permit
- After higher education, a work permit, Digital Nomad or Highly Skilled Worker visa may be open to you
- Student years don't count towards long-term residence or citizenship

Get startedThe honest version
What we can't promise, and what we do instead.
Student time doesn't count toward citizenship.
It doesn't count toward Spanish long-term residence either. We'll show you which route to take next if that matters.
Language courses got stricter in 2024.
Consulate-only applications, no family on your permit, and two years at most with a Spanish exam to renew.
You submit, not us.
We prepare the file and the booklet. You hand it in, so it only takes one visit.
Refused? The clock starts fast.
One month to file a reposición appeal, two months for a judicial appeal. We track both.
Questions
Student Visa questions
Something else? Ask us.
Can I work on a Student Visa?
Higher-education students can work up to 30 hours a week with no extra authorisation. Language-course students need express prior work authorisation.
Can my family join me?
On higher-education programmes, a spouse or partner and dependent children can join. On language courses, family must apply separately.
How much money do I need?
About €620 a month (100% IPREM), roughly €7,440 a year. Prepaid accommodation can reduce it.
Can I apply from inside Spain?
Higher-education students generally can under the law. Language-course students must apply at the Spanish consulate in their country of residence. Whichever track you're on, our service prepares your consulate application, before you travel.
Does student time count toward citizenship?
No. It doesn't count toward Spanish long-term residence or citizenship. It counts 50% toward EU long-term residence.
What can I do after my studies?
Higher-education graduates may move to a work permit, a Digital Nomad Visa or a Highly Skilled Worker permit. After a language course, the work-permit route is no longer available.
When do I pay?
In two parts: the first when you sign up, and the second only once your visa is approved. Each family member is billed separately.
What if I'm refused?
You have one month for an administrative appeal (reposición) and two months for a judicial appeal. We track both deadlines, and appeals against unfounded refusals are included at no extra cost.
